COVID-19 Local Disaster Emergency Declaration

County of Berks officials reinstated the local disaster emergency declaration for Berks County on December 30, 2021 in response to resurgent COVID-19 issues. This was a direct response to a sudden increase in COVID-19 cases and its impact on healthcare and public safety services.

The declaration is not a cause for alarm, but instead equips the County to modify standard operational processes in order to mobilize quickly to obtain necessary resources and make important emergency decisions. A prior disaster emergency declaration was in place from March 12, 2020 until June 28, 2021.
